Brooklyn club Verboten sold to former Pacha owner

Recently the Brooklyn Techno nightclub Verboten had been under the weather due to fraudulent checks and sexual harassment accusations by the owners leading to filing a Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in April.

Verboten was seized by New York state in March due to $360,000 in unpaid sales tax.

THUMP reported back in January that the owners had been accused of “fraud and mismanagement” by investors.

“Many of the investors have been forced to organize over the last several months due to what was initially simply a lack of transparency into the operations and financial performance of the business by the operating partners,” explains the investor Brian Edward McGuinness who was speaking on behalf of 13 other investors.

An action was held where Eddie Dean was the highest bidder of $1.2m. Eddie is known as the owner of PACHA nyc that was closed in January this year.

As PACHA has a different vibe then the underground club Verboten. Some locals are worried that the new ownership will change Verboten’s current direction to follow PACHA. Hopefully they will continue what Verboten stood for (in terms of music) and continue give us music fans a place to feel at home.
