Fabric Closed Indefinitely

Yesterday Islington Town Hall and the Team behind the nightclub Fabric debated for nearly 6 hours in an attempt to save Fabric from getting its license revoked.

Fabric had been temporarily closed due to recent deaths of two young men that died because of drug overdose at the venue. Something Islington Town Hall sees as a breach of license.

During these last weeks a petition had been started with over 100,000 sign-ups and support from some of the biggest names in electronic music like Skream, Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers that urged the London Mayor Sadiq Khan to save Fabric.

Sadiq Khan responded to campaign with “London’s iconic clubs are an essential part of our cultural landscape. As Mayor, I’m determined to do more to protect them, as well as our theatres, live music venues, artists workspaces, historic buildings and pubs. It is so important that people are able to enjoy a fun and safe night out in the capital.

That wasn’t good enough as in a closing statement by the Licensing sub-committee Chair Flora Williamson said “There is a culture of drugs at fabric which management cannot control,“.

This might be the last footage we get to see of Fabric by TimeOut London.
