Tour Essentials with Josefine Hellström Hansson
DJ, producer and raising star Josefine Hellström Hansson just came up with her debut vinyl release Water Cave EP on Swedish label Heartbreak Records / HMWL. By getting excellent reviews she quickly entered top charts on Decks and Traxsource.
Based in Malmö, southern Sweden, Josefine Hellström Hansson finds her home in the underground techno scene, with previous and upcoming gigs in Berlin, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Her sound ranges from deep house to techno, and as a classically trained pianist she loves melodies, especially combined with unique textures, edge and powerful grooves.
As she’s preparing for her gig at WHY NOT Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden we asked her about what her Tour Essentials are
- Toiletry Bag: After gigs and long nights out, taking a shower and removing my make-up before going to bed is a must. Regardless of how many nights I’m spending away from home, I always make sure to bring everything I need. And it’s quite a lot…
- Back Up: Eventhough I mostly play vinyl, I carry several USB sticks with me just in case. I’ve experienced different issues with turntables, depending on placement (wobbly furniture, bass rumble), bad needles, or technical problems. As a DJ, I think it’s important to be prepared for anything, and be able to rely on different equipment.
My back up also includes several headphone plugs (they always seem to disappear), and finally I always bring a jam-packed record trolley. Rather than preparing a set, I prefer to improvise while reading the crowd to create a good vibe.
- Favorite Record: “Steaward Vol. 1”, the first release of the vinyl series produced by DJ Steaw, never leaves my bag. It was one of the first records I bought and I’m still intrigued by it. All four tracks on the EP are amazing, especially for peak time. Also, they are great mixing with.
